National Information Management – Data ( volunteer)

Job Description and Requirements

 

Organization Background:

iMMAP is an international not-for-profit non-governmental organization (NGO) that provides targeted information management support to partners responding to complex humanitarian and development challenges. For more than 24 years, we have promoted a measurable change in people’s lives through our core philosophy: better data leads to better decisions and, ultimately, better outcomes. Our data collection, analysis, and presentation expertise has revolutionized the decision-making process for our diverse, multi-sector partners who seek enhanced coordination and sustainable solutions through information management. 

Overall purpose of the role:

Humanitarian operations and programs rely greatly on data and information management services to better identify, analyze, and visualize the needs of the affected populations and make evidence-based strategic decisions in the design of assistance activities. The position is intended to analyze, document, and develop Information Management practices at various humanitarian organizations, in order to optimize their information management regimes. Further to this, the position will directly support various clusters (sectors) in terms of improving Information Management practices. The incumbent is expected to assist in the development of the overall iMMAP strategy in the collection, analysis, and publishing of information products under the project. This work will entail establishing templates, ensuring agreed-upon standards and branding, and ensuring the accuracy of all spatial and non-spatial products, and subsequent analysis is of the highest standard. He/she will work under the direct supervision of the Data Systems Lead.

Description of Duties

• Analyze data (Clean data, check the compatibility, reliability, and validity of data, and conduct statistical analysis of data)

• Aid in triangulation and aggregation process (develop an aggregation tool, develop appropriate procedure and tools for triangulation such as confidence level)

• Support iMMAP in the analysis of processed data and information and perform data quality and consistency control.

• Review and analyze all survey content as requested.

• Establish sampling strategy for different projects based on the purpose of the project and availability of information.

• Assist in reporting, visualizing, and illustrating the final outcomes of the projects.

• Create crosstabs, maps, dashboards, reports, and all related IM products as requested by the partners or other members of the iMMAP team.

• Facilitate mobile data collection, form development, and data management.

• Generate statistical reports, graphs, maps, and follow up on cluster-specific trends.

• Support new and ongoing assessments.

• Produce summary statistics.

• Develop data collection tools as requested by the partners or other members of the iMMAP team.

• Perform other duties as required.  

 

Qualifications

Experience:

• Fresh graduate

• Knowledge of the Humanitarian Standards and codes.

Skills:

• Excel skills

• Data Collection methodologies

• Research skills

• Data Analysis skills using R, SPSS, PSPP, or any other relevant software

• Database, mapping, visualization skills like PoweBI and tableau.

Education:

 Bachelor’s Degree in statistics, computer science, CIS, or equivalent field.

Languages:

• English (fluent)

• Arabic (fluent)
